Reduce Allergic Asthma Symptoms in 5 Days: Eat this every afternoon

Welcome to Day 2 of the Reduce Allergic Asthma Symptoms in 5 Days Series!

Day Two: Eat This Every Afternoon

Today’s activity requires a trip to the grocery store. Pick up apples for today’s new habit and lemon juice, not lemonade for a future new habit.

Every afternoon, you’re going to eat one whole apple (including the skin). You can eat it plain, but I like to cut mine up and eat it with peanut butter, or, for a real treat, caramel dip.

There’s something in the apple skin that helps reduce allergic asthma symptoms. You can find a lot of studies about apples and asthma online from one that found that some teenagers had a reduction in allergic asthma symptoms when they improved their diets and one that found that the children of women who’d eaten apples while pregnant did seem less likely to exhibit allergic asthma symptoms.

While the science is currently a little fuzzy on this front (there haven’t been enough studies to determine that apples reduce allergic asthma symptoms conclusively), personally I’ve found my daily apple snack definitely reduces my allergic asthma symptoms. Apples are chock full of anti-oxidants, are cheap and store well, and are a healthy diet addition.

So, pick up a bag of apples and get into the habit of eating one a day.

That’s it for Day Two in the Reduce Allergic Asthma Symptoms in 5 Days Series. Make sure you return tomorrow to read (and complete) Day Three.

Here’s the complete list of habits:

Which one are you most looking forward to?

Hiya! I'm Jess. I was diagnosed with allergy-induced asthma about two years ago.

Since then, I've found that my asthma symptoms are a great barometer of just how well I'm taking care of myself. On days when I practice self care, I breathe easier than on days when I don't.

Now that I've gotten a handle on my own symptoms I wanted to create a place where I could share what's worked for me and hear from *you* on what helps to treat your allergic asthma symptoms. Welcome to my site. I'm looking forward to getting to know you.
