The totally gross drink that relieves my allergic asthma symptoms

I almost hate to tell you about this because it is so gross. I have trouble drinking it, to be honest. But, it’s something I drink 2-3 times a week in the morning before breakfast and it consistently makes a huge difference in relieving my allergic asthma symptoms. If you have severe symptoms, talk with your doctor about drinking this more often than that–probably every day while you’re getting your symptoms under control.

When I know that my allergic allergy symptoms are going to increase (like right now when the pollen count’s so high), I drink it every morning. And I gag and sputter and whine, loudly, the entire time. Maybe if you treated yourself to a piece of chocolate after drinking it?

So, here’s the recipe for the gross drink: hot water (I use 8 oz) and lemon juice (I use two tablespoons). Mix it together and drink it while it’s hot. No cheating by adding sugar or honey. Don’t drink it too hot or too fast–you don’t want to burn your throat. I like mine a little cooler than I drink my tea, and I try to drink it pretty quickly to get it over with. Then, I follow it up with a really good cup of coffee.

From what I’ve read, you do need to drink this before breakfast, but I’m not sure why that is. All that I know is that drinking hot water with lemon juice has dramatically reduced my allergic asthma symptoms and it’s the one thing that I do that makes the single biggest difference. It’s also the one thing I do that I absolutely hate and try to avoid… So, trust me when I say that I would not be sharing this with you at all if it weren’t that it works so well to help me breathe more easily.

But, again, talk with your doctor about it first because I find that sometimes it makes me cough quite a bit, and so you’ll want to ensure your doctor says it’s okay to use lemon juice and hot water to help ease your allergic asthma symptoms.
