Herbs for Asthma

I’ve been looking for herbs for asthma and so far haven’t found as much as I was expecting to. I have turned up some essential oils that help with asthma which include chamomile, lavender, and oregano, among others (I’ll tell you more about what I’ve learned there in another post).

I’ve also learned a lot about vitamins for asthma and the importance of certain minerals like magnesium. But when I search for herbs for asthma, I’m coming up completely blank. So, I thought I’d turn it over to you and ask if there’s anything you’ve tried in this arena that’s made a big difference.

I’m thinking I’d like to start with something I can drink as tea–I know peppermint is sometimes recommended, and I love ginger tea but neither of them are really herbs. I wonder if lemongrass is a good herb for asthma, and perhaps the herbs that go into the essential oils I listed would also be good…

So, leave your thoughts–what you’ve tried, what you’ve heard, and the results you’ve gotten. Thanks!

Hiya! I'm Jess. I was diagnosed with allergy-induced asthma about two years ago.

Since then, I've found that my asthma symptoms are a great barometer of just how well I'm taking care of myself. On days when I practice self care, I breathe easier than on days when I don't.

Now that I've gotten a handle on my own symptoms I wanted to create a place where I could share what's worked for me and hear from *you* on what helps to treat your allergic asthma symptoms. Welcome to my site. I'm looking forward to getting to know you.
